Term Description
Housing Register Application To be able to apply for properties, you will need to have a current Housing Register Application. This means you have applied to be on the Sheffield City Council Housing Register and have had your application processed and accepted.
ID ID means Identification. You will be asked to provide 2 forms of ID and a reference when you apply to join the Housing Register. See the Allocations Policy button for more information on this.
Landlord Reference You will need to provide a reference from a suitable person when you apply to join the housing register. This is usually your current or more recent landlord. For more information see the Allocations Policy button.
Document Upload You can provide your ID and reference by uploading it on this website. You need to go to 'My Saved Housing Applications' button and use the actions buttons to upload each piece of ID required.
Property Advert We will advertise available properties on My Housing. The adverts will tell you the landlord, location, size, rent and other features of the property. Where available a photograph of the property will be provided, and you will be able to access information about the local area and facilities. Photographs of similar properties may sometimes be used. If your bid for a property is successful you will be given full address details and you will be invited to view the property. You should check property details upon viewing. The advert will also tell you if there are any special requirements that the applicant must meet, such as age requirements. It also tells you the number of bedrooms that applicants applying for the property need to be entitled to. If your bedroom entitlement is different to this, you will not be able to bid for that property.
Advert Cycle An advert cycle is a group of property adverts that will be advertised together, usually for 7 days. Each advert cycle will tell you when it opens and closes for bidding. You can view all adverts on the All Available Properties button.
Bid A bid is an expression of interest in a property and does not involve any money.
How to bid Top tips when making a bid(s): * Try to bid on the same day every week. * Search by All Available Properties to see everything you can bid on. * Add to your Bidding Basket. * View your Bidding Basket. * Submit your bids.
Void Ref This is a reference number for a property that is being advertised. This is for internal use only.
Allocations Policy Sheffield City Council's Housing Allocations Policy sets out how we decide who can join the Housing Register, and how social housing is allocated fairly, transparently, and legally. You can read this policy on the Sheffield City Council website.
Priority Bands Your application will be assessed according to your level of housing need and placed into a band, within each band applications are placed in date order. If you are awarded a priority band for rehousing due to an urgent or immediate need to move, you will be advised as such by your priority awarding officer.
Priority Award This means you have been awarded a priority band due to having an urgent or immediate need to move. This can be Band A, B or C depending on your circumstances.
Band A Customers with a critical need to be rehoused as a result of their circumstances. Very few customers will meet the criteria to be placed in this band.
Band B Customers with an urgent need to be rehoused as a result of their circumstances.
Band C Customers with circumstances that require extra consideration.
